About me

Hi, I’m Jiyeon, a Korean tutor from Gwangju, South Korea.

I majored in Linguistics and worked as an English teacher in Korea for two years.

After traveling for a year, I now live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Living abroad taught me that language is not for tests, it’s something you need to use right away.

Learning Korean can feel intimidating.

Students often worry, “Is this correct?” or “What if I make a mistake?”

That’s why my lessons focus on:

a safe space where mistakes are okay

patience for slow speaking

building confidence before perfection

I believe language is a skill you build by speaking, not memorizing.

Jiyeon always prepares thoroughly for our lessons and consistently finds new ways to help me learn more effectively. She’s patient, kind, encouraging, and genuinely supportive. She personalizes our lessons using topics I enjoy and care about, and she explains things clearly in English, which really helps me understand. She also weaves Korean culture into our lessons, and she corrects me in a way that keeps me motivated. She encourages me to keep trying and not be afraid of making mistakes so I can improve.

I've had my first ever trial with Jiyeon and straight away subscribed to her ! She helped me feel comfortable in my first lesson and helped me with everything that was on my mind. 💖 edit : i have been learning with Jiyeon for over a month now ! i read hangul easily and starting to understand phrases. I really appreciate everything, not only does she teach, she also gives out of lesson help and kindess. I tried studying Korean by my self before her. But with this tutor you will get anywhere! She always has lessons planned and homework. And adapts easily, and remembers. I really enjoy studying, usally studying would seem hard and boring. But with her i am excited to learn more ! ~ 💖💻

I loved having classes with Jiyeon 💛 Even in the trial lesson, I was already able to learn how to introduce myself in Korean, which gave me a lot of confidence from the start. In the second lesson, we studied consonants and vowels, and she explained everything in a way that made it feel much simpler than I expected. The classes are in English, and even though it’s not my native language, I understand very well because she speaks clearly and explains in a very organized way. She is very didactic, patient, and gives many practical examples until I truly understand. She also encourages speaking from the beginning, without pressure, which helps a lot with confidence. Even with only a few lessons, I already feel progress. I highly recommend her to beginners who want clear explanations and real support

Jiyeon is an amazing teacher! She gives us homework which helps us improve our speaking skills, Jiyeon is attentive and does everything to help us improve. If you take classes with her, your Korean can only get better :)

I just completed my third session with Jiyeon. She is very patient and thorough in her explanations. She is well prepared and I really look forward to our sessions. She makes learning both practical and fun!
