Hello everyone, my name is Terrence I am a qualified English teacher from New Zealand. I have been giving private lessons to students both online and in-person for more than 8 years.
Teaching English is my passion and I always try to give my students the most amount of benefit from every lesson while making them fun and interesting. I use a practice based approach to my lessons to make sure you not only learn but remember what is being taught in the lessons.

I study twice a week, focusing on communication and applying grammar in real conversations. The second session each week is dedicated entirely to speaking, where the Terrence listens to what I’ve spoken and actively corrects me. The lesson structure is very practical and well-suited for learners who want to use English in real-life situations. One thing I really appreciate is the attention to how I actually speak. In the past, no one corrected me, so my way of speaking didn’t sound natural or native-like. Now, Terrence consistently helps me refine my phrasing and improve how I express myself, which has made a big difference.

Conversational English has been my main focus, this is in my opinion the best way to improve your English abilities. I enjoy speaking with people and I can talk about a wide range of subjects with friendly and comfortable conversation.
Business English
I have helped people working in many different types jobs improve their English so that they can be more effective communicators in the workplace. I focus on vocabulary related to your specific work but also general workplace vocabulary and grammar.
English for traveling
I have done a lot of traveling myself and so I understand how important it is to be able to communicate in English when you are in a different country, I can help you with a wide range of subjects from ordering food at a restaurant to changing a hotel reservation and many more.

Interviews can be stressful, I can help you to prepare by practicing interview questions with you, I also have lots of general tips to help you.

I have lived in Australia for five years and have a very good understanding of the local accent and expressions. It often difficult for students learning English to understand the Australian accent because it is less common but I have many years experience with this and I can certainly help.
