About me
Hi! My name is Andrea. I was born in Colombia but grew up in the Swedish-speaking part of Finland, so Swedish is my first language.
I hold a Master’s degree in Pedagogy from Finland, which is required to work as a teacher there. I have 5 years of experience as a teacher, including working as a classroom teacher in Finland, where I focused on teaching Swedish to newly arrived students and beginners so they could be in a normal class. I have also worked as a private tutor.
I love traveling, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures — which is why I have such a strong passion for teaching languages like Swedish.
I help beginners as well as students who already know some Swedish. I support them in improving their Swedish and becoming more confident. I work with children, teenagers, and adults.
I use my method, “Calm & Confident Swedish Speaking”, where I focus on creating a calm and safe environment where my students feel comfortable starting to speak and where mistakes are more than welcome.
The focus is on learning Swedish for real-life situations, and based on each student’s needs, goals, and learning style, I create a personalized study plan for them. Because from my experience as a teacher, no student is the same.
I also focus on building a strong and safe relationship with my students, and on making lessons varied, fun, and interactive — because that’s how we learn the best!
My students often say that they feel more motivated and excited to continue learning Swedish after our lessons.
With me, you will experience how easy it can be to learn a new language when it is tailored specifically for you — and also how fun it can be. I strongly believe that the more fun we have, the better we learn!

We’ve had such a positive experience so far with Andrea. She is incredibly warm and immediately made my 8-year-old feel comfortable - my child took an instant liking to her, which is not always easy. After just four lessons, I can already see a big shift: Swedish feels fun again, which is huge for us. She clearly has strong experience teaching children - the lessons feel engaging, age-appropriate, and well-paced. It’s still early, but everything is pointing in the right direction. Andrea is really very good as an educator. She identifies what you need and prepares the lesson plan accordingly, which impressed me a lot. Additionally, she continuously adds something new by including necessary repetitions in the lessons. Besides these, she is very cheerful and warm :)
