Hind is always really upbeat and willing to laugh and joke around, which makes learning more fun. Today we had an interesting conversation about how much the sounds of the letters sound differently to native English speakers' ears compared to native Arabic/Darija speakers. It was hilarious. She's now taught me how to do most conjugations even if I don't pronounce them well. Past, past continuous, present, present continous, future, future continuous. I've learned a few verbs that differ from their MSA counterparts, to include working, going, speaking, probably some more I'm not thinking of right now. I've also learned how to negate things, which is particularly challenging for me because I always forget to add the suffix. It's a really interesting dialect and, in some ways, makes more sense to an English speaker than MSA. If I had a little time to live in Morocco I think I could pick it up well with a little practice and exposure. But, regardless, this will all come in handy for me when I visit and at a minimum it's just plain fun to learn! Sir mn hna!

So far, Hind is an excellent teacher who perfectly matches my expectations: in only 2 lessons, she taught me the numbers used as symbol of sounds in written darija (3, 7, 9, etc), how to introduce myself and the construction of the present tense. She explains the reason and the origin (when needed) of the rules and this definitely helps applying them. Her way of teaching is very intuitive: real-life situation first, then theory and explanations, which makes things easier to remember and learn. I highly recommend her.
