Hi there!

My name is Caterina, but you can call me Cate. I'm Italian, but I live in Spain and I've been teaching Italian since 2013. I have an "adventure-based" approach, which means we start with a conversation and then explore vocabulary, grammar, cultural aspects, practical skills (and so on) that you need from there. We'll define your goals together and adjust the course as necessary. I use a lot of authentic materials and usually don't follow a textbook.

A little about me: I love dancing (especially salsa and bachata), swimming (I particularly enjoy long swims), painting with watercolors, and reading, especially non-fiction. I'm a very curious person, and you can really talk about anything with me. I have two cats and a dog scattered across different cities, but they're all in good hands!

I've been teaching since 2013, mainly to adults. My background is initially in education, specifically in adventure-based learning and cooperative exercises, an approach I've applied to my teaching. I have a certification as an Italian L2/LS teacher, but in search of further training, I've started a master's in cognitive linguistics, which is giving me a new perspective on teaching.

In the trial lesson, we'll start with a spontaneous conversation that will help you understand how I teach, and me to see how you learn. I'll give you feedback and a proposal on how to proceed, and we can discuss your goals in more detail. The lesson will be entirely in Italian :)

For those who prefer, the feedback and goals part can be in English or Spanish. I'm also pretty good with German!
