FAQ
💬 I am a total beginner, can I learn with you?
Absolutely! I will start with the basic pronunciation(Pinyin) and tones. Then we can start building up some simple sentences even in the first lesson. You will be surprised how much Chinese you can speak after the first hour of the lesson!
💬Is the class taught in ONLY Chinese?
For students who have basic knowledge of Chinese, I normally speak only Chinese in my class in order to provide a better environment for them to learn the language. However, I will sometimes speak English if the student is still a beginner.
💬Do I need to do homework after class?
I always encourage students to do homework because I believe that doing homework will speed up the process of language learning. However, students will be able to provide their feedback and a mutual decision can be reached if there is a need for more or less homework.
💬Can I rearrange the curriculum?
Yes. Students are allowed to customize the curriculum. Please give me a notice at least 24 hours in advance if you wish to change anything.

I have been taking with lessons with Lillian for about a year and notice a tremendous difference in my ability to retain information compared to my previous teacher. Lillian is thorough in teaching HSK, but also uses Chinese culture, scenarios, and sometimes her own life experiences to articulate her lessons. And along with that, she consistently draws comparisons between the Chinese and English language which is helpful in my ability to construct sentences. Lillian is an incredibly flexible and encouraging teacher! She adapts the lessons based on what you need. With her I mostly focus on conversation practice...considering my Chinese is at an elementary level, it is really not easy to find a way to have engaging conversations using my small range of vocabulary. Lillian however always manages to adjust her wording to my level, we add every now and then some new vocabulary that she integrates in the conversation and reviews before the end of the class. I highly recommend her for both people that want a structure course and students - like me - that are already following a course on the side but want to complement it with more conversational practice!Lizzy
