About me

Hoi! My name is Sun. I am a calm person from the Netherlands who likes bike rides, music, tea, and of course: language. Writing is my biggest pastime, and whenever I can, I pick up a word of Arabic. I speak Dutch, English, French, and some Papiamento. In 2023, I graduated for my bachelor Cognition, Language and Communication, in which I chose the major Linguistics. Multilingualism and language acquisition are topics that have interested me throughout my studies. I finished my bachelor's with a thesis focusing on language anxiety within second and third generation immigrants from the ABC-islands.

TL;DR I have a passion for language, which I would love to share with you in our lessons.

Before I enrolled my bachelor, I have been teaching French. I tailored my lessons to the needs of my students. Furthermore, I have some experience tutoring the Dutch language through voluntary work and am now happily continuing my teaching journey.

Sunailys is a great teacher! I've been taking my weekly lessons since February and can already see my Dutch speaking improving a lot. She always prepares interesting lessons and homework, has a lot of patience and creates a safe and happy environment for learning.

I've been doing 1:1 tutoring with Sunailys for the past 2 months, once a week and it has really helped in my ~A2-A2+ dutch speaking abilities. This is something hard to develop in a full classroom with other students or with native speakers in every day life. So I think this is exactly what I need. She prepares different and varied exercises each lesson, with an emphasis on allowing me to speak. She helps in reviewing vocabulary and grammar material from my level at the same time as practicing forming sentences orally. She is quite gentle in her feedback delivery which helps to motivate me to keep trying.

I have been learning with Sunailys for more than a month now, and can confidently say she's a great tutor. She listens to the needs of the student and is flexible with the curriculum, she explains concepts clearly and makes them easy to understand. Sunailys is also always prepared and on time - and makes sure to provide all the materials and - if needed - some extra resources after each lesson. I definitely recommend her as your next Dutch tutor :)
