    About me

An utter gem, patient, passionate, reliable, knowledgeable, unique, quality materials and culturally rich — that’s how students describe my lessons. From children learning their first words to adults reconnecting with their roots or preparing for marriage, travel, or family, I help learners speak Igbo confidently and proudly.

Born and raised in an Igbo town in Southeastern Nigeria, I grew up surrounded by the language, stories, and traditions passed down by my parents and grandparents. This early immersion shaped my passion for preserving Igbo language and culture through teaching.

I’m Bridget, a native Igbo speaker from Nigeria and a passionate tutor with over 13 years of teaching experience, and 1500+ lessons taught online and the author of one of the most comprehensive Igbo–English dictionaries. My lessons are fun for kids, structured for adults, and always focused on real communication. Whether you're a complete beginner or sharpening fluency, I’ll guide you to speak, listen, read, and think in Igbo naturally.

As a proud Igbo woman, I bring culture, laughter, and patience to every session. I’ve helped children bond with grandparents, partners impress in-laws, and learners of all levels gain confidence. I’ve also guided three students to confidently say their wedding vows in Igbo, one sharing, “Everyone understood me — and my in-laws were jumping for joy!” These experiences remind me that Igbo isn’t just taught; it’s lived.

Many of my students start speaking in simple sentences within their first month.

I hold a degree in Education Economics and a TEFL certification. I tailor lessons to your level, goals, and preferred learning style. I personalize lessons for regional dialects, including Ogwashi-Uku, Owerri, Imo, Enugu, Anambra and Delta. I’ve worked with children, adults, and students with ADHD, creating a warm, interactive, and supportive space for every learner.

I also bring professional experience as a Virtual Assistant, Salesforce Certified Associate, Social Media Manager, and Customer Support Specialist, giving me the organization, tech skills, and communication expertise to run smooth, engaging lessons.

    What you’ll get:

Bridget is a great tutor, I had a lot of tutors to select from when I started so selecting her was random but the moment I did, I did not want anyone else. She is dedicated, flexible and patient, she extends herself for her students. I already feel more confident learning with her.

Bridget is a great teacher, very patient and knowledgable about the igbo language and culture. As someone who was not taught Igbo in my younger years, I'm sure my time with Bridget will put me in great standing to hopefully one day become more conversational and maybe even fluent.
