About me

Hello, my name is Kent, and I am from the United States of America. Personally, I am a lover of language learning and I have studied a number of languages myself. I also love talking to and getting to know people from countries and cultures all around the world.

I have a taught English professionally for around the last 3 years in a number of different contexts. I have taught all kinds of classes, anything from conversation classes to IELTS preparation classes. I find it very fulfilling to see my students grow and improve with time and I would love to have the opportunity to help you in your own language learning journey.

Personally, I have studied many languages and speak around 8 languages at a B1 level of above, so I understand very well how hard it can be to learn a new language. It can be a very difficult thing to achieve, but I really feel that every person has their own language learning style that works best for them as an individual. I would love the opportunity to help you to find what language learning style works best for you.

My specialties

Conversational English

I have taught general English and conversational English for a number of years professionally as an ESL teacher in Thailand. I, myself, have learned a number of languages through a largely conversational method and saw a lot of success with it.

IELTS

I have helped dozens of students to improve their various IELTS skills including Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. I have also used both my materials and my skills as a teacher to help some of my students reach scores of Band 7 or above.

English for beginners

I have worked with many beginning ESL students to improve their English ability. I speak a number of languages other than English including, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Thai. In all of my languages, I started as a beginner and know many of the steps needed for a beginner to improve into an intermediate level and beyond.

American English

I am an American from the state of Michigan, but I have also lived an extended period of time in South Dakota, and Colorado. I am therefore very familiar with many American dialects outside of my own.

Writing

While teaching IELTS, I have graded numerous essays and helped my students with many tips on how they could improve their writing with very detailed feedback.
