Hello! I’m a passionate vocal coach specializing in Hindustani classical and Bollywood singing. With a background in vocal training and years of experience in performing, I bring both professional expertise and a love for Indian music to each of my lessons. I focus on building a strong foundation in the essential techniques of Hindustani classical music, helping students develop breath control, pitch accuracy, and voice modulation—all essential elements that also enhance Bollywood singing.

In my classes, students can expect a mix of traditional and modern teaching methods. I incorporate voice exercises, rhythmic drills, and raga practice to strengthen your musical skills, whether you're just starting or looking to refine your style. I also enjoy making the lessons interactive and fun, using familiar Bollywood songs to illustrate classical techniques, so students can relate the skills they’re learning to their favorite music. Each lesson is tailored to fit the student’s unique goals, whether you aim to perform, deepen your musical knowledge, or simply enjoy singing with confidence.

Beyond teaching, I’m a lifelong learner and music enthusiast who loves exploring the beauty of sound and expression. Outside of music, I enjoy reading, exploring nature, and cooking. My approach is relaxed and encouraging, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and embracing their vocal journey.

Piyali ma’am is honestly one of those teachers you feel grateful to have found. When I started, I assumed I’d need a lot of classes every week, but she was upfront and told me I didn’t need that many. Even when I asked about paid music apps, she suggested free alternatives instead. That level of honesty is rare. In just 3 classes, I can already see change. I’m not perfect, but I can now sing certain notes that I couldn’t even attempt earlier. That itself feels like a big win, and it’s because of how she teaches. What I really love is how she makes you feel. After every session, I feel lighter, more energized, and surprisingly productive for the rest of the day. Her calm and composed nature plays a big role in that. She creates a space where you don’t feel judged. She’s also extremely respectful of your time—always joining early, coming prepared, and covering a wide range of things in one session so you explore broadly first and then go deeper on your own. It never feels like she’s stretching lessons unnecessarily. Even if you miss a few days of practice, she understands, gently notices, and still stays encouraging. Basically, she keeps reminding you that you’re on the right track and that improvement will come with time. She focuses on building confidence first, subtly guiding you toward perfection. There’s something about her teaching that just pulls you in—you start enjoying the process instead of worrying about how good you are or how long it will take. I genuinely feel blessed to be learning from her, and somewhere I do wish I had started much earlier.

We started working with Ms. Piyali to teach Hindustani classical music to my daughter Lucia, who is 11 and only speaks English. Ms. Piyali has been a very patient and amazing teacher. She is careful in creating her lessons, sharing follow-up notes, and constantly reassuring Lucia to ensure she feels she can learn and excel in Hindustani classical.
