Hello! My name is Clara, and I'm from Bogotá, Colombia. I hold a degree in Music with a focus on Piano from the National Pedagogical University. I've been teaching for about 12 years now. I've worked with students who want to learn piano as a hobby, as well as advanced pianists looking to perfect their technique and interpretation.

I will teach you piano as a solo instrument and as an accompaniment, whether it's to support other musical instruments or to accompany yourself with your voice. If you want to learn piano just for fun, I can help with that too! I also enjoy playing non-academic pieces for the joy of music and expressiveness.

Class Methodology

Regarding my class methodology, here's how I approach it based on different levels:

Beginner Classes

The beginner classes can be adapted to the focus you desire. Some people are mainly interested in learning to play songs without needing to dive deep into reading music. In these cases, I teach the pieces explaining the appropriate fingerings, the necessary movements to achieve certain sounds, and the most efficient way to study each section of the musical piece.

On the other hand, if you want to learn from a music reading perspective, I implement methods from various composers along with pieces tailored to each student's tastes and needs, making the learning process motivating. I also include technical exercises (which are very musical, by the way) that I have created to strengthen reading, rhythm, coordination, hand independence, and musical fluency.

Intermediate and Advanced Levels

At these levels, we work with technical studies and works from the classical repertoire across different periods in music history. Throughout the process, I share interpretative strategies that help develop sound quality, expressiveness, and a deeper musical understanding.

Academic Focus

If your interest is academic, I can focus on developing piano technique through scales, arpeggios, and other fundamental exercises that contribute to the necessary refinement for tackling more challenging repertoires.

Support with Songs or Tutorials

If you've seen a tutorial on social media or YouTube but couldn't understand it or put it into practice, I can help you step by step. We will analyze the piece, work on the necessary techniques, the correct fingerings, and I will guide you on how to study it efficiently until you achieve greater fluency.

About Me:

I have experience as a classical pianist and am currently active as a performer, so I will provide you with strategies from my perspective as an artist and also from a pedagogical approach, offering you study strategies to help you organize your practice at home and achieve noticeable progress in a short time.

I have performed recitals in various venues across Colombia with repertoires ranging from the Baroque period to contemporary works. My main area of research has been 20th-century repertoire, a topic I developed in my university thesis, which allowed me to delve into learning strategies applicable to different styles and levels. I have also participated in both virtual international competitions and in-person events, where I have won awards and recognitions.

Finally, I consider myself a very patient person. I understand that not everyone learns in the same way or at the same pace, so I organize classes according to the student's level, covering various areas of learning. The most important thing for me is that the student feels comfortable and doesn't feel pressured or judged in their studies.
