Hello, My name is Dennis, thank you for reading my profile. I am immensely interested in language learning, teaching, and sharing my knowledge, especially Chinese (Mandarin). Having lived and worked in the UK, Singapore and China, I bring a practical and engaging approach to your learning.

As a Chinese Singaporean and a native English and Chinese (Mandarin) speaker, I bring an authentic East-West perspective to your lessons. Importantly, I understand the specific challenges native English speakers face when learning Chinese and I can help you learn Chinese confidently and effectively whether you wish to advance your career, for personal enrichment, family or travel.

I enjoy keeping lessons interactive, this means a good balance of listening, speaking and grammar and vocabulary practice alongside practical topics such as day-to-day living, school life, career and current affairs. For students interested also in learning to write Chinese characters (Mandarin - Simplified Chinese), I can customise lessons for you.

I encourage students to have lessons at least twice a week for consistency. For children up to 14 years old, a responsible adult should be present for optimal learning outcomes.

I customise your lessons according to your interest and level, and I also cover important differences between Mandarin Chinese as spoken in China and in other Chinese (Mandarin)-speaking communities e.g. Singapore, Taiwan.

After each lesson, you will receive notes customised for you, plus a personalised voice recording so you can practise listening and pronunciation. My students find these useful in advancing in Chinese.
