About me

Hello! Ahlan! I am Mariam, a native Arabic speaker and passionate Quran and Arabic tutor from Gaza, Palestine.

Over the past 4 years, I have had the joy of teaching students from all over the world, helping them connect with the Arabic language and the Quran.

I am a language learner myself, so I know exactly how challenging and rewarding it can be to start from scratch. I deeply understand the student's perspective.

When I'm not teaching or exploring technology, you can usually find me reading curled up with a good book, discovering new recipes, or spending time with my family.

I hold a degree in Computer and Communications Engineering, which has trained me to be highly structured, logical, and adaptable; traits I bring directly into my lesson planning.

I have 4 years of teaching experience with thousands of hours logged on LearnZone, maintaining a 5-star rating.

My methodology is 100% student-centered. I don't use a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Instead, my expertise includes:

Arabic for Beginners: A step-by-step, zero-to-hero approach focusing on alphabet recognition and basic phonetics. I have successfully helped absolute beginners start reading Arabic in less than a month!

Arabic for Children: I use interactive games, fun visual aids, and bilingual support (translating to English when needed) to keep kids focused, smiling, and excited to learn.

Over the past few years, I’ve had many different teachers on LearnZone before. However, there is one teacher who stands above all the rest that I’ve ever had – and that is Mariam. That is not an easy thing to say, but it’s definitely true in this case. Mariam is without doubt the best teacher of the Arabic language I have ever seen, Masha’Allah. She is far better at teaching than many newly qualified teachers I’ve seen in Britain who have been through teacher training. She does all the right things – she is positive, warm, friendly, and her teaching ability is outstanding. She conducts the lesson at the right level for the student; she differentiates and tailors the lesson to the specific needs of the student; she has excellent subject knowledge of the Arabic language; her lessons are well-structured, fun, engaging, and she lets the students lead the learning, so they are doing most of the work. Also, critically, and most importantly – she knows how to maximize and make the most progress with the student in the lesson. A lesson with Mariam is the equivalent to 5 lessons with another teacher – and that is no exaggeration. That is the level of progress that is made in Mariam’s class. She didn’t know I was writing this review for her, but it’s my honor to do so, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is head and shoulders above the rest. May Allah bless her and allow her to continue benefitting so many people.

Mariam is a high quality teacher and a great person. She's very knowledgable about English and Arabic grammar, and is able to explain concepts in memorable, easy to understand ways. I like that she corrects my pronunciation and teaches me how different dialects sound. Mariam is very friendly and I always look forward to meeting with her. She is all around excellent!!

Mariam is fantastic! Lessons are always well-structured and well-planned. She explains everything carefully and makes it easy to understand. She is so patient and calm, and also very good humoured. We always have a good laugh! شكرًا 🤩

Mariam is a very hard working instructor. She tailors her lessons as per the need and age of her students. My daughter did not know or speak Arabic because we are from non Arabic background, but Mariam is very patient and makes her classes fun and interesting for her to learn.
