About me
Olá, tudo bom? I am Juliana, 26 years old, and I am from Curitiba in Brazil! I love learning new languages and mostly teach my own language, Portuguese. I have completed 2.5 years of a journalism degree and taken 3 Portuguese writing courses. I have one published book and hundreds of written stories about fiction, Brazilian history, and travel.
I have been teaching Portuguese for the past 3 years, and I always look forward to having dynamic and interesting classes. I love seeing foreigners learn my language and develop an even greater interest in my country and culture.
I usually focus on students whose mother tongue is English and who are willing to learn Portuguese as a second language. If you think it's impossible to start from scratch and become fluent, I'm here to prove you wrong. The classes are also suitable for people whose mother tongue is a Latin language, as the process will be similar but a bit faster.
When you book a trial lesson with me, we will first talk for a while to determine your level of Portuguese and identify your strengths and weaknesses. If you have never studied Portuguese before, no worries! We can start from scratch in our first class.
I design all my classes to be engaging and dynamic, incorporating a mix of grammar, new vocabulary, and exercises suited to each level. We will also practice all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
After each class, the whiteboard files, along with notes, new exercises, homework, and tips for improvement, will be added to your folder on Google Drive. There, you’ll also find a shared folder with all students, containing extra exercises, grammar books, games, and lists of Brazilian movies, songs, books, etc., where everyone can add new content.

I love working with Juliana! As a more advanced student, I appreciate how she brings readings to the class to help me practice understanding texts in addition to conversing. She doesn't just repeat what she has used for other students. She thinks about what I need and seeks out new material.

You are a beginner in Portuguese? No worries! I'm here to help you to learn all from scratch.We are going to start with classes in English and learn the language's basics(greetings, weekdays, months, numerals, verbs, etc). Have in mind that every student is different. Some of them learn faster than others, but don't worry, you will be fluent sooner then you think.
