    About me

Now is the time. Because you just started a new job, and you have to lead meetings in English. Because you’re applying for grad school and you have to take the TOEFL and write personal statements. Because you want to chat more: in the office, with your kids’ friends’ parents, at parties… Any way you slice it, language opens doors to ideas and cultures and allows us to make connections that change everything. That’s why we all want to be more eloquent.

With 20 years of experience in the field of language instruction and translation, I’m convinced that the best learning happens through authentic conversations about what genuinely interests you. Tutoring sessions with me are the time when you practice your communication skills. We talk about podcasts related to what matters to you, edit your writing, discuss strategies for test taking and negotiating, and more. I’ll be asking for your input along the way, and I’ll be giving you feedback as you progress.

When I'm not coaching, you'll find me sailing, trading options, or planning my next adventure in France with my husband and dog. I'm passionate about literature, film, music, and the stories that shape our world, from Riad Sattouf’s observations to Jorge Ben Jor's catchy rhythms.

With 20 years of experience and TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification, I help professionals, students, and dedicated learners master English through challenging, meaningful conversations. My approach blends structured skill-building with real-world communication practice. We analyze a podcast, discuss a thought-provoking article, or work through the details of a presentation. We play word games, watch clips of interviews, or debate a topic. We brainstorm solutions and come up with strategies for dealing with difficult clients or tough tests. In short, I specialize in helping ambitious learners who want their English to match their intellect. Whether you're preparing for meetings or academic pursuits or simply want to speak confidently in conversation, I'll meet you where you are and push you toward where you want to be.

So are you ready to say what you’re thinking? Do you want to bring your English up to your standards? Those who work with me surprise themselves with what they can say when given the space and encouragement. We'll explore subjects that fascinate you while naturally building the language skills you need.

Every session focuses on what rocks your world: your industry, interests, and ambitions. You'll leave each conversation sharper, more fluent, and with insights you didn't expect to discover.

There’s never been a better time to take action and honor your intent. You can start with a trial lesson where we'll have a real conversation about your goals and map out how I can help you achieve them.

Kiki is an exceptionally amazing tutor and I'd highly recommend her to everyone! Kiki listens to what I say carefully, provides corrections and better ways to express on the spot, super professional! She has all kinds of activities, from reading an article, to describing a photo, to discussing open topics, to word games etc., creating various experiences for me and covering different skills. In addition, Kiki is really knowledgeable and thoughtful. I can learn a lot beyond just English from Kiki, including American culture and history. I love all my lessons with her and would love to continue improving English with her.

Spent a month studying with Kiki and took my first TOEFL test. My goal is to reach 110 and I got 118 in the end. Many thanks to her attentive help! If your looking for a professional tutor to help prepare for TOEFL exams, look no further. Kiki is a caring and professional American teacher that can help students graph a clear path to achieve their goal. We worked together on vocabulary and expressions, writing using formats, how to take notes while listening etc. It was an interesting and fruitful experience and I would highly recommend others to study with Kiki.

Kiki is an extraordinary teacher. At 71 years old, I have made several attempts to learn English—private lessons, group classes, specialized school in Boston—and it is with Kiki that I have managed to improve the most. She has very good listening skills, she is interested in your needs, in what interests you, and her lessons are tailored accordingly. I recommend Kiki if you want to improve and become more confident when expressing yourself in English; she instills confidence in you from the very first moments of your first meeting.

    Conversational English

Whether you're looking to chat confidently with coworkers or lead discussions in meetings, you'll build the vocabulary, master natural expressions, and develop the confidence to speak up in any situation. Through interactive practice sessions, role-playing scenarios, and techniques I've refined while teaching university students and adult learners, you'll discover your voice so that your conversational skills flourish.

    Business English

Cracking jokes with colleagues requires different skills than presenting quarterly results or writing a proposal. Whether you're polishing your emails to sound more professional, mastering industry-specific vocabulary, delivering presentations that captivate your audience, or learning to diplomatically disagree in client meetings, you'll develop the presence you're aiming for. We'll pinpoint what's holding you back and create a roadmap to Business English success so that you can walk into any professional situation knowing you've got the language skills to back up your expertise.

    English for beginners

Absolute beginners, "false" beginners, and those transitioning to intermediate level can make progress with me by putting grammar to practice. This means that during lessons, we will take grammar concepts and put them to use in ways that are real and meaningful to students. Beginning courses I have taught include Grammar, Reading, Writing, and Oral Communication. These subjects can -- and should -- be combined and blended so that language learners are immersed in English.

    American English

American English idioms, expressions and American English pronunciation are all part of learning the language, in particular for anyone who will be working with Americans or studying in the States. Idioms and expressions can be a fun approach to learning vocabulary and reviewing grammar, too! I am from the Midwest, and so were both of my parents and all of my grandparents, so this is the English that I grew up with.

    Intensive English

If you need to move up a level in English for work or study in a matter of weeks, I can help you make that progress. With my extensive experience teaching intensive six-week sessions, I have accompanied dedicated adult English learners on their linguistic journey, and some of them have made amazing advances within two months.

    English for traveling

English is not only important for living abroad; it is the language that people from all over the world use to communicate with one another when traveling! When taking trips, we will hear Italians speaking to Portuguese in English, Belgians speaking to Thais in English, and so on... Back when I taught French, I regularly led French for Travelers workshops, preparing attendees for trips to Francophone countries. These days, I combine my experience as a world traveler (twenty countries and counting), language learner (ten languages and counting), and language coach and teacher (twenty years and counting) to help students practice "Survival English," no matter what their level may be. This can include cultural details such as tipping in the US, pronunciation specifics such as the flap T in American English, logistical details such as getting from New York to Washington DC, and more.

    TOEFL

University students from outside the United States will have to take the TOEFL in order to attend school there. Colleges and universities require different scores for entry. The TOEFL iBT test has four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Students can feel intimidated by the prospect of having to take the exam, but it's really a matter of practicing, familiarizing yourself with the material, and using some strategies and techniques to get the best score you can. I am certified to help students prepare for the TOEFL and am experienced in helping coach students for the test.

    English for beginners

Many beginning students have worked with me and progressed to intermediate and advanced levels. My methodology involves encouraging students to express themselves in English right from the start. We put grammar to work for us so that concepts are in meaningful contexts. Learning through doing, students feel empowered when they have that "Aha!" lightbulb moment and make connections between grammar and real-life communication.

    English for children

Young foreign language learners are really acquiring the new language while they're learning it. Therefore, enjoyment and fun are especially important part of the process for kids and children. They benefit from stories, chants, songs, and laughter. These positive associations with a new language will help children and kids grow into confident communicators. With over two years of experience teaching English online for children ages five to twelve, I really like to be an encouraging tutor and instructor because I believe this is the way to fluency.

    English homework help

Getting organized, setting up files, and carefully reading through teachers' and professors' assignments will all help students tackle homework. I have extensive experience helping high school and university students with their homework and with essay writing (outline, brainstorming, drafting, editing).
