With a background in presentation coaching, I am able to offer expertise and guidance that will make your English presentation not only correct and coherent, but also dynamic, clear and professional. I have facilitated workshops and coached people in the legal, medical, insurance, banking, manufacturing, social services and government sectors. I am able to convey important and relevant North American business practices and the cultural norms and jargon that go along with them. Appropriate workplace conduct is also essential for successful performance in English-speaking countries.

It is a difficult exam and the stakes are often high for my students but the outcome is critical when it comes to reaching their educational or professional goals. It takes commitment, perseverance and confidence to do well and I have assisted numerous students to success. I will guide you through the process of preparing, practicing and finally achieving the score you need. Of course, it isn't just about English; it's about how well you are prepared for the test format itself. Besides language learning, we will examine how best to approach each section and question on the test and, if necessary, we will practice strategies for staying calm and focussed. I am Canadian and speak with the neutral North American accent that many hope to attain. Though accent reduction is no longer the focus of acquiring well-spoken English, the way I speak is clear and easy to understand and my pronunciation is very neutral whether you will be dealing with an American, British, Australian or 'English as a common language' market.

I have a number of materials at my disposal and am ready to work with you on a daily, bi-weekly or weekly basis. As a Canadian native English speaker, I am acutely aware of the differences between British and American English and able to strike the perfect balance. My exposure to Americans and media through the United States gives me a solid knowledge and understanding of American idiom and slang combined with accepted American cultural patterns. However, Canada is still part of the British Commonwealth and my education and training included British literature, history and politics.

One of my areas of expertise is to ensure that my students are completely prepared for upcoming job interviews. There are four major components to any job interview in another language: 1) proper qualifications; 2) adequate preparation; 3) appropriate conduct; and 4) acceptable language skills - all specific to the job. While I can't help you with the first one, I can certainly help you with the other three. With my knowledge of current job markets, my experience with students from many different industries and my training as a presentation and voice coach, particularly in ESL, we will make sure your job interview is a success!
