    About me

Hi there! I’m Richard, a math tutor with a strong academic background and a deep interest in helping students develop real understanding, not just surface-level memorization. I’ve worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a university-level regression analysis course and have tutored math one-on-one online. My communication style is friendly and adaptable, and I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Outside of tutoring, I study Mandarin, play chess, and contribute to open-source software projects.

I’ve been the go-to person for explaining concepts to classmates throughout my academic life, from elementary school through graduate-level statistics. I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for a 400-level regression course, where I graded assignments, ran office hours, and provided detailed guidance on complex topics like variable selection and model diagnostics. I’ve also tutored introductory statistics online, helping students (elementary school through adult learners) tackle homework, understand core concepts, and prepare for exams. I specialize in tuning into where a student’s understanding is and adapting my approach to match their needs.

Whether you're feeling stuck on a specific concept or just need help navigating your coursework, I’m here to support you. I take a personalized, thoughtful approach, asking questions to pinpoint what’s unclear and then guiding you toward that "aha!" moment. If you’re enrolled in a math course and looking for help making sense of the material, we can work through your assignments and study topics together in a clear, practical way. My goal is to help you build confidence and truly understand the material.
