About me
Hello! My name is Maysa, and I am an American tutor. I am passionate about teaching the Arabic language. During my spare time, I like to read, research on the web, walk, and watch TV.
I have been teaching Arabic as a second language for grades 9 to 12 for the past twelve years.
I teach beginner to advanced-level courses in Arabic. In my teaching, I focus on meeting students where they are in their language proficiency level and help them move to the next level by using different teaching strategies to help them achieve this goal.
I use a lot of visuals to make the language comprehensible. I also use a lot of modeling by providing examples. I encourage students to repeat to improve their pronunciation.

Maysa is in a league of her own. She is seasoned, practiced and highly organized. She ensures expectations for the lessons are clear and that the process is in-line with stated goals. She currently tutors my three kids (school aged and middle schooler) and they are thriving and look forward to her lessons. For example, learning vocabulary isn't just a memorization of words, it includes understanding the letter that's a focus for the lesson, how it presents in the word, & which vowel sound is heard. Conversations are built upon week after week so that they're reinforced and engrained rather than here today gone tomorrow. I have been teaching Arabic for beginners for the past 12 years. I use different strategies, including tailored approaches that cater to individual learning styles, to help students learn the Arabic alphabet, and read and write basic words and sentences.
Conversational Arabic
Speaking is one of the fundamentals of learning a second language. Learning only how to read and write in Arabic isn't enough. My expertise is in teaching students how to speak Modern Standard Arabic and the Levantine dialect. I incorporate speaking activities throughout my lessons by using different strategies, including real-life examples, modeling, and role-playing demonstrating conversational Arabic.
